Laying the Foundation for Total Health
The Chiropractic care that you will receive depends on your goal for care. This is something Dr. Winkler will discuss with you at the onset of your treatment. There are generally three types or stages of care.
1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to be seen one to two times per week for up to four weeks. My general philosophy is that if you are seen 4 times and don't believe we are on the right track we need to have a discussion.
2: Corrective/Restorative Care
If we achieve our goal of pain relief the next stage would be corrective care. During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. This is care that is not as frequent and time intervals are spaced out more and more as stability is realized.
3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor on a frequency discuss by you and the doctor. This could be once a month, 6 weeks or once a quarter (3 months), based on your lifestyle and goals.
